Hassan Muhammad Bakro

Hassan Muhammad Bakro, 26

Due to the war in Syria, Hassan had fled to Lebanon with his wife and two small children. Afterwards, he took the journey to Europe, to look for a job. At the end of November 2022 he crossed the Bulgarian-Turkish border with some fellows and probably a guide. He was 26 years old. The last contact dates on 25/11/2022, closed to a church, near E79 Road.

His family has never stopped looking for him since that day. The family members contacted the Bulgarian Red Cross, sent them ID and DNA, but none of the checks carried out in hospitals and prisons revealed traces of his presence. They addressed the Bulgarian embassy in Beirut, but they did not receive the attention they deserved: the authorities simply claimed to be not aware of anything. So they tried to look for him in Turkey, as well.

The family wants to know the truth about Hassan's fate. They expose the falsehood and cruelty of the smugglers, who present the journey as very easy to do, but then they abandon people in the woods. The family wants to denounce these people as responsible for the disappearance of Hassan. In addition, the family complains that many people ask for money in exchange for information which turns out to be just lies. One year ago approximately the family received the information that Hassan was in prison, but it’s not possible to know in which one he was.

His brother explained to us why it would be important for them to find Hassan: even if he’s dead, his wife, children and mother can have at least an answer.

Hassan is 1.70 cm tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a small deformity in his left thumb. He suffers from a knee disease.
