Eid Ahmed Hinayyan, 34

Eid Ahmed Hinayyan was 32 years old when he decided to leave Turkey - where he lived - in order to try to reach Europe through Bulgaria.

Eid travelled with a group of young men, women and children. After walking for a long time through the forests, the group arrived at the location where a car was expected to pick them up. Unfortunately, there was no seat for everyone in the car, so Eid decided to go back to the same route with the guide.

On his way back Eid felt tired, his feet hurt; he decided to hand himself over to the Bulgarian police. The smuggler left him near point 53, then Eid made a last call to his family to communicate that he had seen police coming and he would have hand himself over. This was the last contact with Eid, occurring on February 12, 2022.

The family went straight to look for Eid in Turkey - Eid had a Turkish identity card, they looked for him in vain in prisons and detention centers. His brother, who lives in Germany, went to Bulgaria to  carry out further research supported by a lawyer and a translator, but the Bulgarian authorities stated that Eid was not present in Bulgarian territory. The family has submitted a request to the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but so far there has been no response.
